CRP (Conservation Reserve Program)
The CRP is a voluntary program that offers annual rental payments, incentive payments for certain activities, and cost-share assistance to establish approved cover on eligible crop land. The program encourages farmers to plant long-term resource-conserving covers to improve soil, water, and wildlife resources. CCC makes available assistance in an amount equal to not more than 50% of the participant’s costs in establishing approved practices. Contract duration is between 10 and 15 years.

CREP (Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program)
CREP is a voluntary program that offers CRP annual rental payments, CRP cost-share assistance and certain CRP incentives. RIM bonus and RIM cost-share payment to establish long-term resource-conserving covers on eligible land. The CCC makes annual rental payments based on the agriculture rental value of the land and provides cost share assistance in an amount equal to not more than 50% of the participant’s cost in establishing approved practices. The state of Minnesota pays a RIM signing bonus and cost share. The duration of CREP contracts is from 35 years to perpetuity.

RIM (Reinvest in Minnesota)
Program purpose: To protect water quality, reduce soil erosion, and enhance fish and wildlife habitat by acquiring conservation easements on environmentally sensitive lands. RIM Reserve Program funding is primarily devoted to direct payments to landowners for conservation easement acquisition. Types of land eligible (if applicable); Riparian lands, sensitive groundwater areas, wetland restoration areas (drained wetlands), marginal crop land and lands for living snow fences are eligible land types for the RIM Reserve Program.

WRP (Wetland Reserve Program)
The Wetland Reserve Program (WRP) is a voluntary program to restore and protect wetlands on private property. It is an opportunity for landowners to receive financial incentives to enhance wetlands in exchange for retiring marginal agricultural land.
